What are the Benefits of Yoga?

Many of you have been to and have attended our power yoga class on Thursdays, and many of you have not.  Each week the number of attendees grows, however, I wondered if I should shed some light on the practice of yoga, and how the practice can benefit us all.  This is my attempt to do that.

My first experience with yoga was 11yrs ago while on a family vacation at Disney World in Orlando Florida.  At that time there was a Virgin Records on the strip in Downtown Disney, and on an afternoon shopping spree we all filed into the vast record store looking for goodies to add to our already weighed down shopping bags.  As I meandered through the store around the self improvement section ( my favorite area of any book/music store) I came across The Yoga Deck.  The yoga deck is a deck of cards with yoga postures on one side of a card, and the instruction and info for that posture on the other side.  Since I am all about improving myself and yoga was something that I was curious about, I bought the deck.  Weeks passed back at home before I even cracked the deck open, but when I did, I began a journey that I am still on til this day, and one that I am sure will be apart of my experiences until I no longer exist in this body.  Over the years my practice has developed and the actual tenants of yoga is a philosophy that I carry with me well beyond the mat and postures.  I have been consistent with practicing yoga, and I have been inconsistent, but the practice continues. I practice yoga for the physical as well as the mental positives that it can bring.

Practicing yoga for you could be more about the physical benefits, of which there are many, it could be for you a great stress reliever, or a supplement to your regular cardio routine.  Whatever the reason you begin to practice yoga regularly, doing so WILL have a positive impact on your life.

Here, is a link to the american yoga association.  We do not endorse any particular belief system here at 720.  Our goal is to provide for those that desire a place to tone, and perhaps heal your mind, body, and soul.  Click the link to learn more.  I encourage you to educate yourself, then bring a friend to our power yoga class that happens every Thursday morning at 720.  If you are a beginner, its a great non threatening environment to learn in.  If you are experienced, you will appreciate the tranquil vibe that we cultivate during our session.

I hope that I have clearly provided  information to help you consider taking care of yourself in a new way that if done properly can bring massive benefit.

Power Yoga at 720 Music Clothing Cafe
Every Thursday 945am until 1045am
4405 Butler Street, Lawrenceville

Osunlade....Pyrography!

Check out new music and interview from one of my favorite artist...Osunlade.  He states in his interview that this is his last album (so hard to believe).  The artwork on this album is also ridiculous.  Check out Osunlade for more info on release date and more of his music.

A Surge Of New Hip-Hop Artist on The Scene...David Dallas

There seems to be a trend of new emcees emerging from low key cities and places across the world.   David Dallas apparently broke out on the NYC hip hop scene via Auckland, New Zealand.  This ambitious talent packed his bags earlier this year and moved to Harlem and not soon after that inked a deal with Duck Down music.  David's sound is reminiscent of Wiz, Mac Miller and Stalley just to name a few.  I don't mean this as a diss but seemingly there is a different sound trying to bust through all of the noisy commercial chatter that already exist on the air waves.  I just hope that his sound doesn't become watered down after a while.  Anyway, if you like his music....his new Album the, Rose Tint is available for free download at http://bit.ly/jZk0WC.
check out his video above and tell us what you think!

We Have got you Covered

I could say that here at 720 we have EVERYTHING that you need to live your life.  That would be a slight overstatement.  However, if I say that we have everything for anyone who likes music, and for anyone who likes unique tees and clothing created by indie designers, or for anyone that enjoys a good book - or anyone who reads rare and sometimes unusual magazines - then...I’d be right on the money.  At 720 we have and continue to cultivate a rich diverse cultural mix of products.  From our vinyl, to our Cd's, from our tee shirts to our dresses.  We understand that you, our customer, are tired of the same old same as it pertains to retail options.  At 720 we strive to cure the insanity with regard to this issue.
Currently in the store we have an array of newly printed tees that are EXCLUSIVE to 720 Music Clothing Cafe thanks to our own Paul Dang. Please enjoy the pics, and we know we will be seeing you soon because you love being fresh just as much as we do!

Be sure to tell friends about us and our selection.  Btw, we are into social media heavily, so don't forget when you arrive to “check in” at 720 via your favorite geo-location social media site i.e. FOURSQUARE, LOOPT, FACEBOOK, etc.
See you soon! Peace

The Love For Vinyl!

ANALOG from NaNo Media on Vimeo.

I  happen to stumble upon this video and thought that this would have been a cool video to post a few weeks ago during National Record Store day.  Nonetheless, This is still a dope video to post as a way to celebrate the spirit of vinyl.  There are two parts to the video, first half illustrates how records are made and the second half highlights the retail end of it.  Kudos to the creator and director of this video for highlighting a woman digging through the crates.  This video is ultra cool and sexy! I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did!

Yoga @ 720

The term power yoga came into common usage in the mid 1990's when several yoga teachers were looking for a way to make Ashtanga yoga more accessible to western students.  Unlike Ashtanga, power yoga does not follow a set series of poses.  Therefore, any power yoga class can vary widely from the next.  What they have in common is an emphasis on strength and flexibility.  The advent of power yoga heralded yogas current popularity, as people began to see yoga as a way to work out.  Power yoga brought yoga into the gyms of America.

Here at 720 we want to tone, heal, and strengthen your mind, body, and soul...I am very excited to announce that Power Yoga has come to 720 Music Clothing Cafe in Lawrenceville.  Beginning this Thursday April 21st, lead by Asana certified yoga instructor, Leigh Garbo.  Class is every Thursday morning at 9:45am until 10:45am.  Please bring your yoga mat, block and other yoga accessories that you use during your practice.  Don't forget your towel.  Feel free to bring a water bottle, or you could purchase water in the cafe.

Each class is only $5.  Tell your friends that live in Lawrenceville and throughout the city.  This class is open to all levels of discipline

A Tribe Called Quest Documentary...Can I Kick It...Yes You Can!

Well I must say that I was overly excited to hear that one of my favorite hip hop groups story was going to be documented and showcased in a way to inform and entertain other ATCQ enthusiasts.  So, contuing with my excitment I began to dig deeper and discovered that there is slight controversy surrounding this film. Apparently, there is a small debate on who was the first person to initiate the idea of the ATCQ documentary.  Based on an interview on MTV.com, Jarobi from ATCQ stated that Nas was the first person to initiate the idea and Micahel Rapaport expressed interest as well and seemingly took the lead in creating the film.  Jarobi also stated that he had reservations about Rapaport because he does not represent the rap community and he was hoping to have some one direct the movie that was part of the rap culture.  Nonetheless,  I just hope that some one from either camp can reach common ground and make the movie happen!  For more info regarding this matter check out MTV.  Also check out atribecalledquestmovie.
